Account Manager – National Market Rate

Our client is seeking an experienced Account Manager to develop and foster relationships with owners and operators of national portfolios of multifamily properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in account management within the real estate or energy industries. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience working directly with real estate property owners and managers. The successful candidate will possess strong sales skills and an ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships and manage an existing portfolio of clients, becoming the client’s trusted energy management advisor
  • Prospect, qualify and onboard new clients nationally within the real estate sector
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client’s energy infrastructure and existing energy management practices
  • Develop energy and water management action plans for your clients’ portfolios and properties through company approach.
  • Work cross-functionally to seek expertise and configure optimal solutions for each client’s portfolio of properties via proprietary utility bills analytics tools and in consultation with the energy engineering division
  • Consultatively identify opportunities to develop energy/water efficiency, onsite generation and power resiliency projects
  • Prepare proposals and present the value proposition for each service and stage of project development, virtually and in-person
  • Learn and understand Federal/State and Utility policies and programs impacting an energy management strategy for a client, with the ability to apply project financing, where available
  • Participate in industry events to represent the company and build presence in the market
  • Monitor, measure and track progress of opportunities in Salesforce.com, and provide weekly reporting to management
  • Undertake other projects as assigned

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 5+ years of experience in account management, energy or real estate
  • Previous work experience in property management, real estate, or a related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proposal writing
  • Experience managing enterprise accounts
  • Stellar presentation skills, with the ability to tailor dynamic presentations to different audiences
  • Creativity in locating new clients and sources of revenue
  • Proven track record of closing sales

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

  • Property Management/Real estate
  • Energy efficiency
  • Renewable energy (esp. solar PV, solar thermal) or cogeneration
  • Building systems, HVAC, or architecture
  • Working with government or utility energy incentive programs
  • Construction or building management
  • Financial modeling, underwriting or analysis
  • Participation in professional industry associations
  • Publishing relevant articles
