Job Title: Employment Attorney
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid/Flexible)
Compensation: $300,000 OTE (Base + Bonus Structure)
Experience Level: Mid to Senior (5–10 years)

We are seeking a seasoned Employment Attorney with 5–10 years of experience to join our legal team in New York City. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic, business-savvy mindset to a fast-paced environment, with deep expertise in employment law and a proven ability to navigate complex workplace legal issues. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal counsel on a full spectrum of employment law matters, including hiring, terminations, wage and hour compliance, workplace policies, internal investigations, and employee relations.
  • Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements, including executive contracts, non-compete and non-solicit agreements, severance packages, and independent contractor agreements.
  • Advise on employee classifications, performance management, compensation, and disciplinary actions to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
  • Lead or support internal investigations into allegations of misconduct, discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.
  • Stay abreast of federal, state, and local employment laws, including NYC Human Rights Law, and proactively update internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory developments.
  • Collaborate with HR, compliance, and business leaders to shape policies and practices aligned with organizational values and legal best practices.
  • Manage employment litigation and disputes, working with outside counsel when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.
  • 5–10 years of employment law experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house exposure.
  • Deep knowledge of NYC, New York State, and federal labor and employment laws.
  • Strong litigation, investigation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and deliver practical, solution-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust across all levels of the organization.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with high-growth companies, particularly in media, entertainment, or professional services sectors.
  • Familiarity with DEI initiatives, ESG-related employment matters, and alternative dispute resolution.
