The primary purpose of the Market Manager – Aerospace is to support the Marketing Manager to drive profitable growth in the aerospace forgings market, preserve current customer base, and coordinate new product developments and tailored applications within the forgings market. This is a key strategic role for a growth market within AFE.
Responsible for Commercial and Defense Aerospace markets, with the exception of ACWB. Accountable for revenue and three year plan for the responsible markets.
New Product Proposals and Quotations: Provide spot and long term agreement proposals to customers for the responsible markets. Assist in negotiation and help close sales.
Collectively understand and apply AFE’s capabilities, core competencies, and strategy to determine what opportunities (RFQ’s and Inquiries) will and will not be quoted. This position, with the help and guidance of the Market Manager – Forgers, will be responsible to act as the first gate review/filter for which opportunities are worthy the deployment of resources to effectively quote.
Manage all inquiries on a master chart to ensure that customer response dates are being met and that the workload in the department is being balanced.
Effectively use a RFQ/QUOTE database to analyze marketplace trends and make recommendations on future business directions and pricing strategies to the Marketing Manager.
Pricing: Provide transactional pricing for key contracts. Manage Indexes: Evaluate and update contract pricing with recognized market indexes.
Growth strategy: Develop product and revenue pipeline including lead tracking, opportunity identification, value propositions, address customer questions, and manage product related reporting through standard company systems.
Product strategy: Harness company technical advantage by coordinating business unit technical resources and engineering support from the technical center to develop cutting-edge product offerings, communicate value proposition to customer, and tailor or optimize new product offerings to meet customer needs.
Competitive Intelligence: Consolidate product and competitor intelligence and market trends gathered from various sources (including field sales) to the Forging & Extrusions Marketing Team. Develop understanding of relative share of company products vs. competition.
Forecasting: Consolidate customer, third party, and internal sales and market forecasts, with input from sales.
Customer Education: Develop and provide the sales force with updated marketing materials to communicate value proposition, technical prowess, and products to proactively educate the customer base on the product offerings.
Marketing Procedures: Standardize and continually improve marketing procedures to improve ease of doing business and increase responsiveness to the customer.
Relationship management: Develop strong relationships with internal and targeted 3rd party Forgers and OE customers and position company as a preferred provider.
Responsible for ERP pricing administration.
Receive, record into a database and disposition all Request for Quotes (RFQ’s) and inquiries from the ISR/Planner and/or Account Managers for all Industrial Products and Hand Forgings.
Understanding of the forging process, basic metallurgy, and basic supply chain management in order to determine appropriate value pricing strategies and competitive pricing strategies.
