Senior Manager, Part-Time Event Staffing & Training
The overall objective of Event Development & Production (ED&P) department is the management of all company events and production operations, from sound logistical and financial planning to safe and efficient execution, while working cross-departmentally to develop event models that result in contributing to the overall success of the organization.
This position will report to the Director of Event Operations with a secondary reporting line to the VP of Human Resources, with the core responsibility of part-time event staff recruitment, development of dynamic on-boarding/training curriculum, policies, procedures and strategies to hire and retain a competent workforce to efficiently support company event properties.
Part-Time Event Staff Recruitment:
Collaborate with departmental staff to develop a staffing strategy for the part-time event workforce that aligns with area needs/priorities; identifying position types, skill levels and deployment plans to perform area functions effectively and efficiently.
Evaluate the current recruitment processes and identify ways to build upon, improve, and streamline the candidate and internal experience.
Conceive and implement creative sourcing and recruiting strategies to locate and develop a solid pipeline of qualified candidates to increase the part-time event staff labor pool.
Recruit, interview, hire and train part-time event staff; work with employees to develop skill sets and correct deficiencies; and implement recognition and disciplinary procedures.
Develop job-related qualification standards, onsite service standards, develop position specific job descriptions, recruitment and retention tactics.
Collaborate with departmental staff on the development of standard event day supervisory procedural checklists.
Part-Time Event Staff Training & Management:
Formulate on-boarding and training curriculum for all part-time event positions, on-the-job training and meetings; coordinate and conduct sessions with department staff.
Organize and advance marquee event staff orientations.
Research and analyze training and development practices, methodologies and trends and recommend new approaches.
Create, develop and implement event staff communications (i.e. newsletter, website, online resources, tools and materials etc.)
Assist with implementation of customized scheduling software, create training materials and on-board/transition existing and new employees to new module.
Oversee and manage day-to-day event part-time staffing operations.
HR/Finance/Operations:
Build compensation structure/practices in line with industry and geographical standards for part-time staff; develop and implement criteria/metrics to assess performance and appraisal standards.
Create part-time event staff employee manual content and assist with HR/Finance policy development and communication.
Responsible for part-time event staff payroll, including processing, analysis and reporting.
Responsible for strategic labor plans, budget projections and management for all event properties.
Ensure compliance with workplace laws, including EEO, wage and hour and workplace safety.
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Establish best practices and draft standard operating procedures and policies related to event staff management for internal and external use.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience with a proven track record in staff recruitment, designing/executing successful training programs and building part-time labor pools in the event/entertainment industry.
Experience in the NYC event landscape preferred.
Must be a team player with excellent relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills.
Focused, high-level attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced, environment and perform well under tight time constraints and changing deadlines.
Budget planning, management and analysis experience required.
General knowledge of HR policies and practices.
Strong project management, organizational and logistical planning skills.
Ideal candidate is self-motivated, driven, has a positive attitude and is customer-service focused.
Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Internet savvy for sourcing candidates.
Strong knowledge and a high level of comfort with computer applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Willingness to travel, work various weekends and extended hours as needed.
