After the Job Offer…Now What?

After the job offer, getting through the onboarding chaos, and what do you need to integrate effectively for new hires?

How do you engage and onboard candidates after offer acceptance, and what retention strategies do you have in place?  Most companies assume that the recruitment process is over once the candidate has accepted the job offer, however, that’s just the beginning of the hiring process!

According to SHRM, the average cost per hire is $4,129. New employees who are part of a structured onboarding program are 69% more likely to remain with a company. A good onboarding plan gives new hires clear direction to set them up for success. Well planned and organized onboarding programs provide engagement and increased retention, as well as lower costs associated with re-recruiting and re-training.

Here are a few ideas to have in place: pre-boarding initiatives before start date, create a new staff orientation package, agenda setting for day one, new hire orientation, benefits enrollment and automated form completion, communicate onboarding expectations to managers, goal measurements – check-ins at 30-60-90 day marks, work space / tools / to ensure everything is set up before they arrive. Remember, a good first impression is essential for creating long-lasting retention and increased productivity!
